A Rare And Severe Complication Of SLE: Bullous Systemic Lupus Erythematous

Bullous systemic lupus erythematosus (BSLE) is a rare antibody-mediated blistering eruption of subepidermal tissues in patients with underlying SLE. We report case 19 years old Indian unconscious male who presented acute generalized lesion and widespread tense vesicles Bullae at the superior trunk, proximal limbs, face(lips) symmetrical distribution. contained haemorrhagic fluid bleeding was also seen on ruptured site. The lesions are mucosal areas such as perioral, pharyngeal, laryngeal, genital areas. Multiple erosions crusting over body. scalp plaque erythematous peeling foul smells. Blood investigation showed leucocytosis metabolic acidosis diagnosis septic shock secondary to infected BSLE. He treated IV hydrocortisone 200mg, analgesic, Ceftriaxone. Unfortunately, he collapsed 24 hours later passed away. This highlights importance early detection BSLE an skin complication SLE its management steps.
